BFGoodrich Tyres launches new advanced 4X4 tyre

DUBAI, November 25, 2015

US-based BFGoodrich Tyres is set to launch an advanced 4X4 tyre, the new all-terrain T/A KO2 tyre for off-road enthusiasts in Africa and Middle East.

The new tyre is 20 per cent stronger in critical off-road performance, durable, lasts twice as long on gravel roads and 15 per cent longer on asphalt, and it also has 10 per cent greater traction in mud.

Engineered from BFGoodrich’s championship off-road motorsports racing technology, the new tyre will give consumers the confidence to take on the toughest challenges for work or play.

BFGoodrich engineers leveraged the latest off-road racing technology to provide consumers with an advanced tyre to meet a range of conditions in the development stages of the tyre.

It borrows heavily from the BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2 tyre, which was equipped on nine of the top 10 finishers in the 2014 Tecate Score Baja 500.

Some of the key features of the tyre include, tougher sidewalls as it uses CoreGard technology and bruise-resistant sidewall rubber and a thicker, extended shoulder to prevent sidewall failures.

It has a new tread design and rubber formulation that helps it last twice as long on gravel. The tread rubber has been optimally blended to reduce chips and tears on gravel.

The tyre also has a range of tread features for better mud traction. Side-Biter lugs in the sidewall improve traction in mud and rocks. Mud buster bars in the shoulder help release compacted mud for better traction in soft soil.

Pierre Granzotto, general manager for passenger cars and vice president for Michelin Africa, India and Middle East, said: “BFGoodrich is delighted to bring to its customers, a game-changer that will take on anything that ‘Playground Earth’ has to offer.”

“While the original KO, defined the all-terrain tyre category for decades, the new All-Terrain KO2 is designed as a tyre that will pose no boundaries for drivers taking on a new world of adventures,” he said.

The product is planned to be launched in 42 dimensions for Africa and Middle East, out of which 30 dimensions are available as of November 2015, fitting a large range of 4X4 vehicle models from the stable of vehicle manufacturers such as Toyota, Nissan, General Motors, Jeep, among others, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
