Taste of Abu Dhabi to showcase local culture, cuisine

ABU DHABI, October 14, 2015

Taste of Abu Dhabi will cook up a feast of local culture, cuisine and talent when the world’s fastest-growing al fresco food, drink and music festival kicks off on November 5.

Organisers have confirmed a renewed partnership with the International Centre for Culinary Arts (ICCA), alongside the first Premier Family Lounge, a local baking competition and new Emirati restaurant, said a statement.

The three-day festival, which will take place at the du Arena on Yas Island, will provide students of the ICCA, a local world-class culinary school, the opportunity to create sumptuous dishes with high-profile chefs at the Cookery School.

Al Mrzab Popular Restaurant has been confirmed as one of the festival’s 25 restaurants, promising authentic and flavoursome Emirati dishes to treat guests’ taste buds. And for those looking to enjoy their food in a relaxing atmosphere, Taste’s first ever Premier Family Lounge offers a family-friendly area dedicated to local guests and featuring Arabian treats, it said.

Chris Fountain, managing director of Turret Media, said: “For Taste of Abu Dhabi’s second year, we have tailored our offering to cater to a more local audience, whilst showcasing the very best of the UAE’s cuisine, talent and culture.

“The ICCA is a trailblazer in culinary education and pairing world-class professionals with the UAE’s next generation of talent promises unprecedented opportunities for hands-on experience.”

In another bid to inspire talent from across the UAE, Taste of Abu Dhabi has launched a ‘Bake and Win’ competition with ‘Master Patisier’ Eric Lanlard.

The competition has invited budding bakers to enter via social media with recipes, images, and videos of their cakes. Ten finalists will be invited to enjoy the festivities at Yas Island’s du Arena and have their creations judged by Chef Lanlard, where one lucky winner will enjoy a meet-and-greet with the renowned chef.

With celebrity chefs, 25 restaurants, legendary reggae band The Wailers, a Premier Family Lounge, VIP Lounge and Funky Monkeys Kids Zone, Taste of Abu Dhabi promises a line-up that no family will want to miss. -  TradeArabia News Service
