Manama, June 22, 2008

A top US university will confer an honorary doctorate on the Premier for his role in establishing an active economy based on free commerce and building infrastructure for a socially and environmentally sustainable society.

Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan, will award the PhD to Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on Tuesday at the Gudaibiya Palace.

University president Dr Louis Walker said that under the leadership of the Premier, the government had grabbed all opportunities to raise living standards of the people of Bahrain and the region.
