Samena Council members to meet in Casablanca

Members of the Samena Telecommunications Council, the multi-continent telecom consortium, are gathering in Morocco to take part in the 'Convergence to Casablanca 2007' conference.

The conference, to be held from October 24 to 26 at the Le Royal Mansour Meridien in Casablanca, will discuss the dynamics of the telecom markets in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

The highly anticipated industry event, supported by Saudi Telecom as diamond sponsor, with Etisalat and du as platinum sponsors, will cover important issues and challenges as well as opportunities confronting the telecoms industry covered by the consortium, said an official spokesman.

Discussions, workshops and presentations will focus on network management systems, regulatory concerns, as well as value added services and mergers, acquisitions and privatisations.

Key speakers include Etisalat chairman Mohamed Omran; Osman Sultan, du CEO; Jamal Jarwan, Etisalat International Investment CEO, and Saud Al Daweesh, Saudi Telecom CEO. 

“"Convergence to Casablanca” will gather the key influential decision makers who will help shape the course of the telecom industry’s growth in the areas belonging to the consortium.

There are quite a few exciting changes happening in the region, both from the corporate and business aspects, as well as the technology side that need to be discussed and elaborated.

The goal is to generate a body of knowledge that will help leaders of the various telecom markets involved to make informed decisions as they address challenges and opportunities in their respective countries,” said CEO and founder of Samena Thomas Wilson.
