Brown & Holmes sees growing opportunities in Gulf

UAE, March 16, 2017

UK-based Brown & Holmes, a provider of workholding and precision machining solutions, has revealed that the increasing focus on developing more manufacturing in Gulf markets is creating a number of interesting challenges, including some changes in normal purchasing mindset.

Steve Parker, export development manager, Brown & Holmes, said: “Having done business in the Gulf for more than 30 years, it is fascinating to see how market structures and the purchasing routes and mentalities are changing.

“Establishing larger and globally competitive manufacturing operations is a huge challenge. One of the problems is that when purchasing workholding and tooling for example, design of the products can make a significant difference, way more than the appearance and price. It can be a steep learning curve and that is why we are always glad to help,” he said.

Analysing recent successes in the Far East with leading global manufacturing companies and the increase in enquiries from Gulf markets, Parker added: “ We use our understanding of manufacturing to ensure that when we design and make workholding solutions for production lines and manufacturing plants, they provide product cost savings, maximise production flow efficiencies and reduce the possibility of downtime.”

Kevin Ward, joint managing director, Brown & Holmes, said: “We have unfortunately witnessed too many examples of production plants suffering very costly breakdowns and not working as competitively as they might, by purchasing cheaper capital plant and equipment.”

“Design in our case, always means ‘designing the best competitive solution’ and offering our expertise to help executives, and engineers to understand and make informed decisions. We are looking forward to sharing our expertise with more,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
