Lockheed Martin sets robotics challenge

ABU DHABI, December 5, 2016

More than 161 youth participated in Lockheed Martin’s National Day Weekend Community Robotics Challenge, which was held recently at Lockheed Martin’s Center for Innovation & Security Solutions based in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.

Three teams were awarded for designing, building, and programming a robot to clear as much debris from the competition field within 90 seconds, said a statement from the company.

The award categories included the ‘Competition Winner’, the ‘Most Innovation Team’, and the ‘Most Collaborative Team’, it said.

Ahmed Mohammed Alaseery, an Emirati student from Al Suqoor School Abu Dhabi, was named the competition winner, for designing a robot with a modifiable arm that extended to clear the debris more effectively, said a statement.

The competition offered students a real-life application of physical engineering and technology and aimed to inspire, train and develop an indigenous pipeline of the next generation of national Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (Stem) professionals, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
