Boehringer Ingelheim chosen Top Employer across 29 countries

DUBAI, January 26, 2023

The Top Employers Institute, a global authority that recognises excellence in people practices, has awarded Boehringer Ingelheim ‘Global Top Employer’ for the third consecutive year. The Institute acknowledged the company as one of the world’s 15 best employers across 29 countries around the world.

The leading family-owned pharmaceutical company received the ‘Top Employer’ award for the third consecutive year in Saudi Arabia, the second time in the UAE and the first time in India.

Boehringer Ingelheim’s employee offerings particularly stand out in the dimensions of wellbeing and work environment, as well as rewards and recognition. The results reflect the company’s holistic employee healthcare and wellbeing approach that, beyond its emphasis on mental health, integrates concepts of physical, social, and financial wellbeing.

Dedicated programmes
Through dedicated programmes, employees receive support that is relevant for them and their families. This includes a work environment of physical and emotional security, an inclusive way of working together to create a sense of belonging, mental health awareness initiatives, focus on work–life balance, opportunities for volunteering, and competitive pay and benefits.

Mohammed Tawil, Regional Managing Director and Head of Human Pharma for India, Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (‘IMETA’) at Boehringer Ingelheim, said: “As a company that is people-centric at its base, fostering a strong sense of purpose for our employees is paramount. Having an environment where everyone feels valued is imperative to the way we work and supports us in attracting and retaining top talent. Receiving the ‘Top Employer’ award in the UAE, KSA and India propels us to further strengthen our corporate culture and do our utmost in continuing to prioritise our employees’ wellbeing and development.”

While the need to take good care of physical health is well established among Boehringer Ingelheim employees, the awareness and means for taking appropriate care of mental health still receives significantly less attention.

Mental health
Boehringer Ingelheim strives to curb the stigma often experienced by people with mental health conditions. Tawil commented that prioritising employees’ mental health helped them feel empowered to ask for help and be able to rely on each other’s support when in need.

The Top Employer award is based on a performance across a range of categories. Boehringer Ingelheim scored high in Business and People Strategy, Organisation and Change, Purpose and Values, Ethics and Integrity, Leadership, Career Growth, Learning, and Rewards and Recognition.
