Shifa Al Jazeera plans $129m spend in Oman

Shifa Al Jazeera Group of Hospitals and Polyclinics plans to invest about RO50 million ($129 million) in Oman’s health sector in the next five years, a top official said.

Around RO 30 million will be earmarked for the first three medical facilities comprising both premium class and access hospitals in Al Khuweir, Ruwi and Al Khoudh followed by 10 polyclinics across the country, Dr K T Mohammed Rabeeh Rabiullah, the company’s chairman and managing director was quoted as saying in an Oman Observer report.

“We will be investing SR250 million ($66.5 million) for the first three medical facilities which comprise both premium and access clinics in three locations in Muscat in the next one year half of which is already pumped in,” he added.

“We will be investing an additional SR120 million for ten polyclinics across the country with special focus on Muscat, Sohar, Barka, Saham, Nizwa, Buraimi and Salalah.”

Shifa al Jazeera has tied up with a local business entrepreneur Abdulrazak Haji who will be the vice chairman for the polyclinic ventures in Oman under the name of Badr al Tamam and the 10 clinics set to open in January, 2017, the report said.
