Dubai Hospital, run by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), is set to introduced an advanced appointment scheduling system, for chronic care patients.

The system will provide chronic care patients with same-day appointments across multiple specialties, said a top health official.

Dr Abdulrehman Al Jassmi, chief executive office, said during the monthly ‘Leaders at Your Service’ initiative that the aim of this move is to provide patients with convenience and ensure regular follow-up with a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

“Dubai Hospital has the several specialised clinics. The move will help patients with chronic diseases because they can schedule their appointments with specialists on the same day,” said Dr Al Jassmi.

“For example, a patient with cardiac and renal problems can meet with a cardiologist and a nephrologist on the same day. However, sometimes same-day scheduling may not be possible because of the different time frames of treatment or unavailability of slot on the same day,” he said.

Al Jassmi added that in general patients should ensure they reach the clinic at least ten minutes prior to the appointment time and that they should recheck the date and time of their follow-up visit before they leave the hospital to avoid rescheduling their appointment later on.

Patients should regularly update their details including their contact numbers so that the hospital staff can get in touch with them if required, he said.

During the two-hour ‘Leaders at Your Service’ initiative, Al Jassmi  addressed several queries and listened to feedback and suggestions.

One of the callers, praised the service of the staff members at the hospital and said that she is a young patient who needs dialysis and the staff at the hospital provide her with excellent service as well as make her feel safe and comfortable.

Shaikha Al Rahoomi, director of Customer Relations Department at the DHA, said the ‘Leaders at Your Service’ initiative which is taking place for the 15th consecutive month  and has received excellent feedback.

“It has been very successful so far with customers appreciating the opportunity to directly communicate with health leaders and give their suggestions, feedback or complaints,” she added. - TradeArabia News Service
