Farnek spotlights green FM in healthcare

DUBAI, June 15, 2015

Farnek, one of the region’s top facilities management (FM) companies, highlighted the need for green and sustainable FM solutions within hospitals at a key industry event held in Dubai, UAE.

"With the sheer volume of medical facilities that must be built in the GCC over the next few years, two issues spring to mind. Firstly, how sustainable will the design for these new buildings be and, secondly, how will they operate sustainably," stated Farnek CEO Markus Oberlin.

He was giving a presentation on the sustainable FM solutions within hospitals at the recently-held Building Healthcare Middle East Exhibition.

"Indeed, how will existing medical facilities in ageing buildings try to operate more sustainably?” he added.

Oberlin pointed out that incorporating sustainable design in hospitals could help cut not only their overall carbon emissions, but also their utility bills could be significantly reduced, in some cases by as much as 20 per cent.

"Imagine making those sort of savings when your total annual healthcare budget is $56 billion?" he said.

A leading player in the region, Farnek has signed a commitment to support myclimate, an international organisation that helps companies around the world manage their carbon emissions through a range of offset programmes.

With a skilled workforce of more than 2000, Farnek has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and maintains over 2,500 contracts alone on behalf of many international and regional companies.-TradeArabia News Service
