Moorfields to display latest innovations at heath conference
DUBAI, May 5, 2015
Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, one of the Middle East’s leading eye hospitals, will hold a presentation and display its latest innovations while participating in the Digital Health Live 2015 conference and exhibition taking place in Dubai, UAE.
The conference will bring together leading minds from the digital health sector to look at how innovation can predict, diagnose, manage and prevent illness, said a statement.
The event which kicked off today (May 5) will run until May 7, at Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Moorfield’s managing director Mariano Gonzalez will make a presentation on Innovation in Healthcare Education and Research, and the team will also showcase the latest innovative imaging technology used to support diagnosis and treatment for cataract and glaucoma patients, and for refractive assessment prior to laser corrective surgery, said a statement from the hospital.
Moorfields will present the Oculus Pentacam imaging system at the exhibition. The Pentacam provides high quality, extremely bright and sharp images of the entire anterior segment of the eye, evaluating up to 138,000 measuring points in a single step, within seconds.
From the high-resolution images, it calculates a motion-corrected 3D model of the eye. The system has proved to be valuable to ophthalmologists, clinicians and surgeons in providing precise diagnostics and guiding successful treatment, further added a statement.
The Pentacam can perform quick and reliable glaucoma screenings, detect corneal diseases, and assess cataract progression. The Pentacam’s simple, comprehensive corneal screenings assist ophthalmologists in planning refractive surgery, measuring irregular corneas with great precision, and ensuring reliable planning for the implantation of corneal rings, CXL (Corneal Collagen Crosslinking) and cornea transplantations, it said.
Gonzalez said: “Moorfields is delighted to support this important healthcare event, showcasing the latest digital technology that is making such a dramatic impact on the quality of diagnosis, treatment and patient outcomes, as the industry seeks to improve the quality of care and manage costs.
“Healthcare is increasingly about wellness, so assessment and prevention is equally vital and technology is playing an important part in this area,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
