AHD to showcase innovations at Arab Health

Dubai, January 26, 2014

The American Hospital Dubai (AHD) will showcase medical innovations while senior physicians support medical conferences at the upcoming Arab Health 2014, a leading healthcare and congress in Dubai.

Arab Health 2014 is set to open tomorrow (January 27) and run until January 30 at Dubai International Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The hospital, a Platinum Sponsor of Arab Health, will showcase some of its ground-breaking innovations in neurosurgery and cardiology and its multidisciplinary capabilities in minimally invasive surgical procedures.

It will also host several group tours for visitors to the event of the Dubai campus, in support of Dubai’s efforts to promote healthcare tourism. The hospital’s ongoing expansion program, including a new bed tower, will add beds to the Dubai medical campus (total 384 beds on campus) along with an increasing number of Western Board Certified physicians.

Senior physicians and management from the American Hospital Dubai are involved in three conferences at the Arab Health Congress – the world's largest CME accredited multi-track medical congress - as moderators and speakers at conference sessions.

Dr Nayzak Raoof, chief medical officer at the American Hospital Dubai, said: “One of the major benefits of working with an elite group of specialist medical practitioners is the capacity to support healthcare innovation and we are especially pleased to see the many multidisciplinary collaborations that are transforming the treatment options for our patients – some of which we are highlighting at Arab Health 2014, Our physicians will also play a significant role – presenting innovations and chairing or moderating other sessions - in one of the world’s largest medical congresses.”

“This really is a reflection of the Hospital’s clear standard of attracting only US - or other Western equivalent - board certified physicians, who can provide the most advanced treatment and care for the community we serve.”

AHD will present its comprehensive range of services and specialist centers, which continue to attract increasing numbers of patients from outside the UAE, with patients from more 20 countries treated at the Hospital every year.

The American Hospital Dubai operates a range of centers, from the Neuroscience Center to the Sleep Lab, reflecting the transformation of the hospital into an expert provider of highly specialised and advanced forms of tertiary care, through teams of specialist consultants who are all US board certified or equivalent. The hospital is increasingly developing these specialist practices into regional centers, reaching out to patients in the GCC, Nigeria and beyond.

David Farrick, acting CEO of the American Hospital Dubai, said: “The hospital is undergoing expansion and development as we continue to improve our tertiary care capabilities and introduce new and advanced services.”

“This evolution of specialised tertiary services has helped attract patients from further afield and we believe this provides a good model for the Dubai healthcare sector, as it becomes the regional hub for world class healthcare services, which we are committed to support.

“Major professional events such as Arab Health create the opportunity to show visitors the quality of our physicians and infrastructure and we look forward to welcoming delegates to the Hospital, as we celebrate 17 successful years of serving the community,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
