Top universities to feature in 'Study in Japan' in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, February 2, 2016

Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), Educational Development Office Abu Dhabi-Japan will host a four-day 'Study in Japan' informational event along with traditional cultural activities in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
 
The event will take place on February 5, 7 and 8 at The Space Abu Dhabi, and on February 6 at the Novotel Al Bustan Hotel.
 
The aim of the event is to promote Japan as an emerging international study destination for emirati nationals and UAE residents seeking internationally recognised tertiary qualifications in a country that also offers unique traditional and sub-cultural experiences, within a society that is both welcoming and safe, said a statement.
 
It will International students at Japan’s educational institutions have been increasing year-on-year, with the latest statistics showing a total of 184,155 students from around the world choosing to study in Japan in 2014; an increase of 9.5 per cent compared to the number of international students in 2013. 
 
Among these, students heralding from the Middle East numbered 1,450 in 2014 with an increase of 11.6 per cent.
 
Tokuya Kanamori, representative of Education Development Office Abu Dhabi (EDO): “Japan continues to proactively welcome students from the UAE and Middle East to further their education in a wide variety of disciplines, providing them with not only excellent academic training and internationally respected qualifications, but with unique cultural experiences that can only be experienced in Japan. 
 
"Within a safe, welcoming, respectful and nurturing environment, international students to Japan can pursue their academic goals while at the same time experience unique cultural and sub-culture interests. 
 
"We are happy to see the number of emirati nationals choosing to study in Japan increasing, and to encourage this are also providing a number of scholarships to further support this trend.”
 
University representatives from four of Japan’s leading tertiary educational institutions, including Nagasaki University, Tokushima University, Ritsumeikan University and International University of Japan, will be in attendance at the event to personally provide information about their institutions, courses and facilities to interested students and their families, said the statement.
 
Additionally a number of unique cultural experiences will be highlighted and can be experienced at the events by visitors including traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, Kimono wearing, and Japanese Woodcut Printing, it said.
 
“We hope to see many people come visit us over the four day event to not only learn more about Japanese educational opportunities, but simply to enjoy and experience the art and beauty of what Japanese culture and Japan has to offer,” the statement added. - TradeArabia News Service
