Sharjah education show sees 30pc growth
Sharjah, January 14, 2014
Nearly 150 institutions have registered for an upcoming education show in Sharjah, as against 104 in 2013, marking an increase of 31 per cent.
The International Education Show (IES) will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from January 29 to February 1.
More than 60 exhibitors from India will also be taking part in the Great India Education Fair, under the aegis of AFAIRS Exhibitions & Media. The Great India Education Fair will be held for the second consecutive time as part of the International Education Show and feature international boarding schools, universities and colleges from across India.
The International Education Show is now entering its momentous 10th edition, growing with each edition and become a catalyst to the country’s ambitious higher education campaign to prepare its youth to achieve high in their life and contribute to the nation’s growth,” said Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah.
“Though we have good local and international institutions in the country and can lay claim to the status of an emerging educational hub, we have to admit that huge gaps exist between workforce supply and demand in a number of industries,” he added.
“Through high budgetary allocations and pro-active strategies implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, the UAE government is aiming to plug these gaps.”
Industry watchers point out that with the booming economy generating enough jobs, and events like World Expo 2020 promising more than 275,000 employment opportunities in the near future, the higher education sector is set to see greater interest from students and their parents.
“We are also likely to see more educational institutions coming to the UAE and the existing ones increasing their programmes to meet the rising requirements. The International Education Show will be a dedicated platform for local and international institutions to target the ambitious student population in the region,” added Midfa.
The Great India Education Fair will help parents interact directly with principals / authorities of India’s high-ranking boarding schools which are offering spot admissions from Std. 2 onwards, providing international curriculum, world class infrastructure and quality education at an affordable cost.
Students can meet directly with admission directors of India's leading and recognised universities and colleges that offer a wide range of bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
“Among the Asian student population, Indians are the single largest nationality. With nearly 65 top boarding schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions from India taking part in the Great India Education Fair it will be a must-visit for Indian expats in the country and the region,” Midfa said. – TradeArabia News Service
