Dubai, April 13, 2014

Dubai is set to host the second edition of Global Airport Leaders’ Forum (GALF) next month where experts will discuss the roadmap and challenges for the aviation industry.

A platform to discuss the roadmap and challenges for the aviation industry, the GALF will run from May 12 to 13 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

It will be collocated with the 14th edition of Airport Show, the top league B2B platform for the airport industry decision-makers in the Mena region and Indian subcontinent.

Both the shows will provide an ideal platform to share details of the future plans of Dubai civil aviation sector in the run up to the Expo 2020 and beyond, offering the global industry players insights into the requirements of what is being hailed as the super growth phase in the UAE’s and Dubai’s aviation domain.

A supreme committee headed by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, chairman of Dubai Airports and chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, has been announced for the upcoming forum.

“The event mirrors the aviation industry’s robust growth and the region’s economic resilience, enabling decision-makers and other aviation industry professionals to explore latest technologies and identify future challenges, in order to further promote the success of a thriving aviation industry in the region,” remarked Sheikh Ahmed.

"The second edition of GALF will gather global aviation authorities and experts to talk about our shared challenges and explore best practices to ensure sustained growth. Airports in the Mena region are projected to cater for 400 million passengers by 2020," said the top official.

Based on these forecasts, billions are being invested to provide the additional capacity required to accommodate the anticipated demand, he added.

Under the chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed, members of the Supreme Committee will recommend key issues and topics for debate and discussion at the GALF-2014 which will have an impressive line-up of industry specialists, policy proponents, thought leaders and visionaries from across the world.

Members of the Supreme Committee are leading luminaries of the aviation industry from the region and will meet periodically in the run up to the GALF-2014.

The committee members are senior management members of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), Dubai Airports, Emirates Airline & Group, dnata, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Airport Show and GALF organisers, Reed Exhibitions Middle East.
