Anantara to open 5-star resort in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, June 26, 2013

Renowned Thai hospitality group Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has announced plans to open its new five-star luxury villa resort in Abu Dhabi next month.

The Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort, being developed by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), on Sir Bani Yas Island comprises 30 luxurious beachfront villas, offering a unique experience that capitalises on the impressively diverse beach and wildlife blend of Sir Bani Yas Island and the dazzling Gulf surroundings, said a company statement.

Complementing the existing Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara, the new resort will offer guests an alternative private-stay experience while providing them with five-star luxury hospitality services, enhanced by an authentic Arabian look and feel.

The retreat will also fill a niche market on the island by focusing on the luxury needs of travellers seeking a more exclusive, intimate island atmosphere, as well as a variety of adventurous experiences.

Al Yamm, meaning ‘The Sea’, was inspired by the Arish dwellings of the early fishermen and pearl divers who lived seasonally on the island. Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort has been built with sustainable design features perfectly complementing the island’s delicate ecosystem.

Speaking at the launch, Steven Phillips, the general manager of Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara and Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort, both on Sir Bani Yas Island said: “This unique natural location was always one-of-its-kind in the Gulf, due to its geographical location and rich history. With the latest resort addition, the island is now becoming a destination within the destination of Abu Dhabi on an Emirate scale and within the UAE on a national scale."

We are confident that the Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort will maintain Sir Bani Yas Island’s position as a five-star destination for adventure as well as beach front seclusion, and look forward to welcoming our first guests from July 2013 onwards," he noted.

Ahmed Al Fahim, the executive director of marketing, communications, sales and leasing at TDIC, said resort is its latest and unconventional hospitality development, which strengthens their long-term partnership with Anantara.

"We anticipate that this regionally distinctive villa resort concept will bring a new dimension to Sir Bani Yas Island’s offerings, attracting a greater number of visitors to the Emirate that will support Abu Dhabi’s goal as a leading tourism and cultural destination,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
