Elaf Saudi hotels win ISO certification

Jeddah, December 15, 2012

Elaf group, a leading tourism and hospitality group in Saudi Arabia, said its two hotels - Elaf Al Huda and Elaf Taiba in Al Madina - have obtained the ISO certification for food safety management systems.

This certification comes in recognition of the Saudi group's adoption of the most stringent hygiene and food safety practices.

It also reaffirms the high level of emphasis that Elaf hotels place on adopting international standards of quality and service to exceed customer expectations, said a senior official.

Ziyad Bin Mahfouz, the president of Elaf Group, pointed to the group’s strategy of implementing global standards in hospitality and underlined that all their properties in Makkah Al Mokarama, Al Madina Al Munawara and Jeddah adopt the highest quality standards.

TÜV Rheinland issued the ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Systems certification to “Elaf Al Huda” and “Elaf Taiba” hotels after the detailed assessment by the auditors.

The ISO 22000:2005 is a management system designed to enable organizations in the food chain to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of consumption.

“The issue of food safety has been making headlines around the world with increasing frequency. Thus, obtaining the ISO 22000 certificate for the entire Food & Beverage team, fully demonstrates our ongoing commitment to giving top priority to the safety of guests and employees," said Bin Mahfouz.

"This ISO certification also underscores our excellent position in Saudi Arabia’s hospitality industry," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
