GCC rail network focus for summit

Road and railways networks of countries across the GCC, development of maritime and air transport systems, logistics and transportation will form the core of discussions of an upcoming transportation conference in Doha.

The GCC Transport and Railways Conference will be held from October 17 to 19 at the Doha Ritz Carlton, announced Sheikh Saoud Bin Nasser Bin Jassim Al-Thani at a Press conference today (October 11), in his capacity as deputy-chairman of event organizers, the Qatar Railways Company.

“The GCC is going through an incredible transformation at the moment,” said Sheikh Saoud.

“With money flooding in from, all of us have a vested interest to increase investing in our infrastructure – namely in transportation networks and railroads.  The timing and preparations for this conference, therefore, is not coincidental.”

The Qatar International Exhibition for transport & Logistics (TRANS4) will also be held during the conference at Doha Exhibition Center.

“Not only will we be discussing the linkage of the regional transportation networks, but ways that this will enhance the economic and logistical environment between the regional countries, as well as between the GCC and other countries in the world,” explained Sheikh Saoud Bin Nasser Bin Jassim Al-Thani.

The conference has attracted global and regional players with a vested interest in the transportation industry.

From Gulf Cooperation Council and European countries, delegates headed by ministers of transport, finance, and public works will be participating.

In addition, representatives of regional and global transportation organizations, transport experts, leading international transportation and railway companies, engineering consulting firms, and financial institutions will take also partake in the debates.

The CEO of the Qatar Railways Company, Saad Ahmed Al Mohannadi, said: “The conference will provide an important chance to share experiences and crucial information and to meet decision-makers in person.”

“Therefore, I assure you that the success of this conference is the success for all of us and the GCC as a whole,” he added.

The conference will include 40 speakers who discuss their experience and expertise in the field of transportation and railways, over 400 participants from more than 20 countries. – TradeArabia News Service
