2 Gulf Air planes grounded after minor accident

Manama, May 23, 2011

Gulf Air said two of its aircraft were involved in a minor incident while undergoing a scheduled maintenance check at Bahrain International Airport.

'One of the wings of an Airbus A330 clipped a parked Airbus A340 while being towed from the bay to hangar by the ground handling service company,' said an airline spokeswoman.

'A full investigation is now underway.'

She said that both aircraft would be temporarily grounded and undergo full maintenance checks in line with international standards before returning to schedule.

'The grounding of these aircraft will not affect the airline's operations,' said the spokeswoman.-TradeArabia News Service
