Oman Air wins 4-star Skytrax ranking

Muscat, April 23, 2011

Oman Air, the national airline of Oman, has been awarded an official four-star quality and service ranking following a recent audit by Skytrax, the UK-based in-flight research services company.

In addition, Skytrax has named Oman Air’s business class seat as one of the top three business class airline seats in the world.

Skytrax conducted the audit in January and February and examined all product and service delivery areas of Oman Air’s operations, a statement said.

The last Skytrax audit was conducted a number of years ago and awarded Oman Air a three-star ranking. Oman Air’s new official 4-star airline ranking signifies that the airline has achieved a good standard of product across all travel categories, with good standards of staff service delivery in both the onboard and airport environments, according to the statement.

“This recognition of the high quality of Oman Air’s service is extremely satisfying, especially as it has been awarded by Skytrax, whose knowledge, expertise and independence are unparalleled,” said Peter Hill, Oman Air’s chief executive officer.

“Our commitment to ensuring that the Sultanate of Oman’s national carrier offers passengers the very best in air travel is absolute and the four-star ranking that has resulted from the Skytrax Airline Quality Audit is recognition of the remarkable progress we have made.”

“Furthermore, Oman Air’s inclusion within the top three of Skytrax’s list of the best business class airline seats in the world is a clear demonstration of our emergence as a world-class airline of the very highest quality.”

“Oman Air’s fleet of modern, spacious and comfortable aircraft continues to grow, our network includes 40 destinations and will expand further over the course of this year, and our onboard products are outstanding,” Hill continued.

“We offer excellent in-flight entertainment, have pioneered in-flight mobile phone and broadband connectivity and our menus put many of our competitors in the shade. And on the ground, we have unveiled stunning first class and business class lounges at Muscat International Airport, as well as launched online check-in,” he added.

“These developments, together with many more behind the scenes, have transformed Oman Air and could not have been achieved without the energy and dedication of staff at all levels of the organisation.”

Edward Plaisted, chairman and CEO of Skytrax, said: “Oman Air has made great strides in recent times and the airline’s official four-star ranking is well-deserved, as is their inclusion within our list of the top business class airline seats.”

“Skytrax’s full star rating determination examines more than 800 areas of each airline’s product and service delivery, both on the ground and in the air. The result is a balanced assessment which provides an accurate and independent guide for travellers around the world.”

“Our assessment of Oman Air shows that the airline offers a good quality of product and service and its Official 4 Star Airline ranking places it alongside - and ahead of - some of the largest and most respected names in the business,” Plaisted added. – TradeArabia News Service
