Flydubai, Emirates Post seal ticketing deal

Dubai, May 26, 2009

Flydubai, Dubai’s first low cost airline, has signed an agreement with Emirates Post Office network to make tickets available to the customers through the post offices across the UAE.

As per the agreement, all post offices in the UAE will act as flydubai selling agents, offering booking facilities, accepting payment for reservations made on-line and making or changing booking preferences.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, chief executive officer of flydubai, and Ibrahim Bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post signed the ticketing deal on Tuesday.

'Our aim is to change the way people travel by making the process simple, convenient and hassle-free. People have different preferences and while some prefer to book via the internet or call centre, others prefer to do so in person,' remarked Al Ghaith.

'Keeping this in mind, we decided to partner with Emirates Post, allowing us access to their widespread network across the Emirate and therefore bringing us closer to the community,' he added.

Ibrahim Bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post, said, 'We are privileged to add flydubai ticketing services to our portfolio. As the region’s most dynamic postal corporation, Emirates Post is geared towards providing the best service to all customers.'

'With the help of our advanced IT technology and a trained team, we will provide a convenient and user-friendly service to flydubai travellers,' he stressed.

“Our extensive network of 101 post offices is ideal for taking flydubai’s services closer to customers,” added Bin Karam.

“This is a strategic partnership for us and part of our overall plan to offer diverse public services established through alliances with government organisations and private sector companies,” he pointed out.

The agreement was preceded by extensive preparations to establish a state of the art electronic network linking all post offices with the flydubai reservation system.

The Emirates Post Training Centre has been working closely with the flydubai team to ensure counter staff are fully trained and prepared to answer any customer query and deliver the highest levels of service.

Customers now have the option to book their travel with flydubai through its website (www.flydubai.com), its call centre (04 301 0800) or at their nearest Emirates Post outlet, he added.

Flydubai will begin commercial flights on June 1 when it takes off for Beirut. This will be closely followed by flights to Amman on June 2, Damascus on June 8 and Alexandria on June 9 and there will be more announcements to come in the near future.

The flydubai model is simple, with customers paying for the services they want. The ticket price includes all taxes and a generous hand baggage allowance of 10 kg. From there, customers are able to select other services at an additional charge.

Flydubai will operate from an enhanced and modernised Terminal 2 on the north side of Dubai International Airport.
