Al Ain mall draws record visitors

Al Ain (UAE), September 14, 2013

Bawadi Mall, one of the largest shopping centres in Al Ain city, said it has set a new record by attracting 4.09 million visitors during the period from April to August this year  over last year's 932,762 visitors.

The mall organized a series of infotainment and shopping campaigns that increased the footfall by 8 per cent compared over previous year, said a senior official.

Bawadi Mall registered the highest footfall in August 2013 attracting 932,762 visitors, an increase of 5 per cent, breaking the record set in August 2012.

Khalid Shraim, the senior marketing manager, Bawadi Mall said: “Our strategy of growing visitor number has worked, thanks to the well organised entertainment campaigns that are tailored to the needs of Al Ain visitors as well as those coming from surrounding areas.”

“In addition to August, which was a successful conclusion to various summer, Ramadan and Eid campaigns, we also registered increased number of visitors in other months: 11 per cent in April, 13 per cent in May, 8.3 per cent in June and 3.9 per cent in July, compared to corresponding periods in 2012.”

Experts point out that 2013 was remarkable tourism year for the UAE in general, as peak times like July coincided with Ramadan and Eid periods, triggering an increased influx of tourists and boosting the spend at all tourism attractions around the country.

Al Ain city was among of the most benefited by this increase because of its relatively more pleasant weather in summer.

Bawadi Mall organised series of shopping campaigns, including one that lasted 71 days, the longest to date.

Other campaigns incorporated developing architectural designs for unique Arabian cultures, such the Pharaonic and the Andalusian themes, in addition to a series of acrobatic shows as well as fashion shows.

“We saw a larger influx of tourists from Oman because of the Al Ain’s proximity to the Sultanate. Innovation and quality offerings by our internal team brought us this success,” Shraim said.

"Other contributory factors included ease of accessibility and large parking areas. Moreover, essential retail shops and pharmacies are located close to the gates, offering a faster shopping experience similar to standalone shops," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
