A dump truck drives past a worker at Kumtor open pit gold mine in the Tien Shan mountains, some 350 km southeast of Kyrgyzstan capital Bishkek near the Chinese border. Kumtor - which means Sand Peak in the Turkic national tongue is located at more than 4,000 m (13,000 ft) above sea level and is the second-highest gold mining operation in the world.
