Snow hits crop

, February 19, 2013

People walk along a street in Nanjing, Jiangsu province ii China, on February 19. Snow and freezing temperatures in the major rapeseed growing areas of central China drove domestic rape meal futures to a record high on Tuesday, with traders anticipating damaged crops and a decline in output. A strong cold front has hit parts of Hubei, Jiangsu and Anhui, the country's top three rapeseed regions, with the state weather bureau saying temperatures are likely to drop to around zero degrees Centigrade in some areas in the next three days.
