APR Energy wins biggest Libya power contract

APR Energy, a global leader in fast-track power, said it has been awarded the single largest contract by Libyan government in the fast-track power industry following a 200MW expansion of its original 250MW contract.
The expansion, which brings the contracted total generation capacity to 450MW, supplements the 250MW of mobile gas turbines originally contracted, said a statement from the Florida-based company.
The turnkey power solution will help cover anticipated power demand during the critical summer high heat season, as well as provide interim power while the country continues to rebuild and improve its infrastructure.
This brings APR Energy's total new contract wins this year to 553MW compared to 569MW of contract wins in 2012. The current order book (backlog of business) stands at over 14,823 MW-months, up 28 per cent from December 31, 2012.
Commenting on the win, CEO John Campion said, "The expansion of the Libya contract is a result of the strong confidence our customer has in APR Energy's ability to rapidly deliver and execute the large-scale power it requires."
"The expanded 450MW project in Libya, together with the recent implementation of our 300MW project in Uruguay, aligns with APR Energy's goal to be the industry leader for large-scale, fast-track power projects," he added.
