Technip wins key Bapco contract

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has awarded Technip a lump-sum contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of its sulfur recovery unit (SRU) modification project.
The project will ensure that the #3 SRU is capable of safely burning sour water stripper (1) off gas and becomes a viable spare for the new #4 SRU, said a Technip statement.
The contract also covers the precommissioning, commissioning and start-up assistance for the project.
Technip’s operating centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE, will carry out the project which is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2014, it said.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be $23 million and the Technip contract is worth $16.657 million, a Bapco source said.
