McLaren to provide training for ME dealers

Manama, May 25, 2011

McLaren Automotive will conduct a special training programme for its Middle East dealers in the UK this July, on the eve of the launch of its highly-anticipated debut model, the MP4-12C.

The company has also confirmed that plans for the opening of its seven showrooms across the region remain on track, and has announced that it will be introducing customer care procedures that provide 24/7 customer support and a full set of replacement parts at each dealership when the new car goes on sale later this year.

Some 27 workshop technicians, service managers and body technicians from Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE will undergo an intensive six day training workshop at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, UK, this July. The training will ensure that the dealers are fully prepared to manage McLaren Automotive’s aftersales procedures.

Trainees will receive practical one-to-one hands-on training including diagnostic tool operation, carbon repair techniques and customer interaction skills, before taking part in a special session where they will be able to drive the MP4-12C themselves and develop an understanding of the 12C’s dynamic potential. The workshop will end with a written exam, which trainees will have to pass in order to receive a certificate confirming they are capable of meeting the exacting standards required to work on the 12C, in line with McLaren Automotive’s standards, ethics and values.

“Before the MP4-12C goes on sale, we need to ensure that everything customers and owners experience while visiting a McLaren Automotive showroom or workshop is of the highest quality. Setting up these facilities is just one step; the key is to properly prepare the dealers and their technicians to look after the cars,” stated Duncan Hill, McLaren Automotive’s regional aftersales manager for the Middle East and Africa.

McLaren Automotive has also confirmed that customers will be assigned a Personal Liaison Manager (PLM) in the Middle East region.-TradeArabia News Service
