400 exhibitors line up for Saudi Food

A total of 400 exhibitors from Turkey, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Jordan, the US and other local Saudi companies are set to take part in an upcoming major food, hotel and hospitality show in Jeddah.

The 19th edition of Saudi Food, Hotel, Hospitality, the largest annual event for food, beverages and catering, hotel equipment, supplies and services the in Saudi Arabia, will run from April 13 to 16 at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Exhibition.

The exhibition will also feature the prominent Top Chef Arabia contest and the Art de Table competition.

Zahoor Siddique, vice president of Al Harithy Company for Exhibitions (ACE) said: “The show is now recognised as the country’s best platform and business facilitator; this year’s show will further drive Jeddah as the hub of tourism and food sectors.”

“This show is organised in light of the exciting developments in Saudi Arabia's hotel industry and consistent with our continued efforts to make our events truly relevant to the needs of our clients," he said.

He noted that Saudi Arabia’s catering and hospitality industry is one of the Kingdom’s fastest growing sectors. “The reasons are obvious. A growing population that will have doubled in size in two decades; expansion of the domestic tourist industry; and the development of the pilgrim market that will greatly contribute to the 88 million annual visitors by 2020,” he added.

Siddique stated that the market sector is currently expanding by over 15 per cent per annum. The health food market, by 12 per cent with fast food due to turn over US$ 4.5 billion over the next three years. And the packaged food sector is growing by 5 per cent with anticipated sales of almost US$ 22 billion in 2014.

The show will host Top Chef & Art de Table contests, jointly organized by ACE and I LEVEL with the support of WACS – World Association of Chef Societies, SARCA- Saudi Arabian Chefs Association, Euro Toques, Nestle Professional and Al Mashfa, which will feature culinary skills of chefs from the finest hotels and restaurants and adjudicated by a panel of international experts. – TradeArabia News Service
