Stay clear of strange objects: Bahrain police

Manama, November 6, 2012

Bahrain’s police have warned the public to stay clear of strange objects abandoned on roads or near garbage bins, as two Asians died in separate explosions yesterday.

People have also been advised to immediately contact the police upon spotting any suspicious object anywhere, said a report in our sister publication the Gulf Daily News.

Five blasts rocked Bahrain yesterday, which killed Indian Thirunavukarasu Murugaiyan and Bangladeshi Shajib Mian Shukur Mian, and seriously injured Indian Dhana Ram Sainin.

"If a suspicious object is seen, a call to 999 should immediately be made to report the location," said the Capital Governorate Police Directorate general director in a statement yesterday.

The general director said the homemade explosives went off in Gudaibiya and Adliya, adding the first device detonated when Murugaiyan kicked it. He died instantly in Gudaibiya.

The second man, Mia, was injured in an explosion near the Awal Cinema and was pronounced dead at the hospital, while an explosion in Adliya seriously injured Mr Sainin.

The Public Prosecution has been notified of the explosions and an investigation has been launched to bring those responsible to justice, added the statement. – TradeArabia News Service
