Dubai, November 10, 2011

Toshiba Gulf presented business to business awards to its Kuwaiti distributor, Arabian Business Machines (ABM), and Omani distributor, Bahwan IT, at a ceremony held at the Toshiba Gulf Office in Dubai recently.

Bahwan IT received the Platinum Business to Business Partner of the Year award and the Gold Business to Business Partner of the Year award was attained by ABM. They were presented by Toshiba Gulf managing director Yasuyoshi Matsunaga and general manager Santosh Varghese, a statement from the company said.

“The performance of our Middle East distributors has contributed greatly to the market growth of Toshiba within the region. They have played a major role not only in bringing the company’s products to consumers but also in ensuring that our brand values- quality, trust and reliability- are reflected across all products and services that we offer,” said Varghese.

In 2010, Toshiba, through ABM signed a deal with Kuwait’s Ministry of Finance to deliver notebooks for everyday computing, business and multimedia users. The agreement services for the deal include a three-year warranty, and on-site service for laptops. All government ministries, departments, public institutions and organisations in Kuwait were given access to the latest Qosmio and Tecra laptop range of Toshiba.

“Acquiring the ‘Joint Purchase Committee Tender for 2010 to 2011’ in Kuwait was a joint effort between ABM and Toshiba. The tender committee understood the quality, and reliability of Toshiba products and recognised the excellent after-sales-service offered by ABM which overall met the requirements of the tender,” said Kamal Aboul-Hosn, general manager, ABM.

In the same year, Toshiba won a tender with Oman’s Information Technology Authority (ITA) for Oman’s National PC Initiative. The deal is the first-of-its-kind in the GCC offering a fully funded programme for Omanis, positioning the country as a leader in technology education and literacy in the Arab world, the statement said.

As part of a competitive pitch, the company was selected as the vendor for the deal due to the brand’s reliability and continuous commitment to technological development in the region. Recipients of the grant received the latest Toshiba Satellite C660 series laptop.

“We are proud of our partnership with Toshiba which extends for more than two decades. We look forward to continue offering our valuable Omani customers the latest in technology, solutions, and quality after sales service,” said M K Janaki Raman, general manager, Bahwan IT.

ABM was appointed distributor for Toshiba in Kuwait since the company’s establishment in 1983. Headquartered in Kuwait City, ABM specialises in office automation, solution and after sales service, the statement said.
