Imdaad signs Burj Dubai recycling pact

Imdaad, the leading integrated facilities management company in the UAE, has signed a three-year contract with Emaar Properties to undertake waste management and recycling for Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Under this agreement, Imdaad will collect and dispose municipal solid waste and collect all recyclable material generated from all areas within Burj Khalifa on a daily basis, said a company statement.

Imdaad in conjunction with Burj Khalifa’s management will also develop and operate an Environment Management System (EMS), it added.

This comprises appropriate monitoring systems to ensure compliance with sustainability requirements including the introduction and management of recycling systems for the tower, the Imdaad statement said.

Jamal Lootah, chief executive officer, Imdaad, said: 'Delivering waste management solutions to one of the world’s most prestigious buildings is something we look forward to with great enthusiasm.'

Burj Khalifa, described as ‘A Living Wonder,’ and the centerpiece of Downtown Dubai, is a global icon highlighting the can-do spirit of Dubai.

Towering high at 828 metres, the world's tallest building also has the world’s first Armani Hotel and At the Top, Burj Khalifa, the highest observation deck with an outdoor terrace located on level 124.

Burj Khalifa is in close proximity to The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, as well as several world-class hotels and entertainment options.

Imdaad’s client base includes major corporate and service establishments such as Nakheel, Jafza, DP World – UAE Region, Dubai Customs, Limitless, Barclays Bank, Manazel, and Tamweel.
