Bahrain water specialist upbeat on ME prospects

Manama, January 13, 2010

Bahrain's Integrated Water Systems (IWS), a specialist in design and engineering of water and wastewater systems, is upbeat on its growth prospects in the Midde East region, where naturally mined water is a scarce commodity.

The IWS said there was tremendous potential in the region for the reverse osmosis (RO) equipment, its fastest selling product.

The company is taking part in Gulf Industry Fair, a key industrial event in the region, under the Tamkeen pavilion.

A Bahraini government establishment, Tamkeen has been set up to promote Bahraini industries to boost the kingdom’s economy and provide job opportunities for its citizens.

Ali Al-Aswad, IWS senior manager, said Gulf Industry Fair was an ideal platform to showcase the company's wide ranging products and services in the field of water solutions.

According to him, the company offers “A to Z solutions” starting from home solutions to meeting the requirements of large commercial and industrial complexes.

“We offer services from concept to supply, installation and commissioning or meet the specific requirements of clients,” Al-Aswad added.

“Our gamut of offerings embraces integrated water resources planning and management for industries, agriculture, and residences and consultancy for water, wastewater and environmental management,' he noted.

“We perform the design and detailed engineering of water and wastewater systems including recycling and zero discharge as well as the sampling and testing of water and wastewater.

IWS also does trouble shooting and upgradation of existing systems and works on annual contracts for maintenance and operations, spares and after sales service, Al-Aswad pointed out.

The company, he said, provides equipment and services for such commercial projects as ordinary and wastewater treatment plants. It also offers items such as water softeners and water purification units that can be used by households, offices and hotels.

IWS’s biggest installation was at Aradh Bay in Bahrain where the plant had to produce desalinated water at the rate of 240,000 gallons per day, he explained.

According to Al-Aswad, the company has developed expertise in the manufacture of control panels for RO units.

“RO equipment is our fastest selling product,” said Al-Aswad. “We offer to supply RO units as small as 50 gallons per day to units good for desalination plants of very large size.”

One of IWS most recent clients is bottled water provider Moaeen of Bahrain for which it provided consultancy, machinery and installation - all under a turnkey arrangement, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
