Dolby partners with Arab music service

Dubai, December 11, 2012

Anghami, a digital music service in the Middle East, said it has partnered with Dolby Laboratories, a leader in surround sound technologies, to provide its users a superior audio experience.

With the largest catalogue of Arabic and international licensed content in the region, Anghami is a mobile app that delivers Dolby Pulse encoded content, providing users with a seamless experience to listen to unlimited music on-the-go.

Designed for an optimal combination of quality, efficiency and integrity of content, Dolby Pulse offers smaller file sizes and faster, more reliable media streaming for Anghami’s users — especially in situations where bandwidth may fluctuate.

Commenting on the deal, Anghami CEO Eddy Maroun said, “Dolby’s technology does a great job of maintaining the integrity of the artist's original work, while ensuring it can be delivered as efficiently as possible to the place where so many people enjoy their music most these days - on-the-go.”

“With Dolby, we’ve also been able to deliver faster streaming and lower data consumption without compromising the quality of sound,” he added.

Tarif Sayed, the regional director, Middle East & Africa said, “Dolby has always been committed to delivering the best possible sound and entertainment experience. Consumers increasingly demand to enjoy their music in higher quality and we are happy to support music service providers like Anghami with our technologies.

Anghami is a music streaming service designed for the Mena region offering Arabic and International licensed content. Anghami (meaning My-tunes in Arabic) offers unlimited music to stream and download across platforms such as iPhone/iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Nokia, said Maroun.

Anghami said while the public beta is still in exclusive mode, interested users can request their invite code on Anghami.com and try out the app for free for a limited period.
