Egypt-Bahrain vow security co-operation

Egypt and Bahrain yesterday vowed to reinforce security co-operation, a report said.

The pledge came as Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who is on an official visit to Cairo, met Egyptian leaders, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

He was received by Egyptian Prime Minister Dr Hazem Al Beblawi, who thanked Bahrain for its support which reflects the historical ties between the countries.

Lt-Gen Shaikh Rashid said that Egypt will remain the strategic hub of the Arab world. He said that security and stability of Egypt and Egyptians are an Arab and Islamic goal, adding that Bahrain and Egypt continue to work together to confront many criminal conspiracies in the region.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Egyptian Armed Forces chief General Abdul Fattah Al Sisi also received the Interior Minister.

He backed all measures Bahrain takes to protect its security and stability and promised Egypt's full support in the endeavour.

Lt-Gen Shaikh Rashid also met his Egyptian counterpart Major-General Mohammed Ibrahim and reviewed co-operation which will allow Bahrain security personnel to gain more experience and develop skills. – TradeArabia News Service
