The United Arab Emirates has launched a road map to achieve transformation to a mobile government within two years as stipulated by the leadership.

The Committee to Activate the Mobile Government Initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has also adopted an integrated programme to ensure internal coordination between various federal authorities via sequential coordinating workshops and increased visits to leading countries in this field.

As part of the ongoing process, the ICT Fund has announced allocation of Dh200 million ($54.4 million) to finance the applications of telephone services to federal government authorities in the UAE.

Emphasizing the need to adhere to the time frame set by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to complete the transition to m-Government within two years, the committee stressed the importance of effective communication and exchange of knowledge and cooperation among all stakeholders.

It also underlined coordination and teamwork to achieve the desired transformation during this period.

“The coming period will witness several federal authorities launching services through mobile phones, eventually achieving a comprehensive transformation in just two years in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed,” said Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and chairman of the committee.

“The transition will make the UAE one of the first countries in the world to make use of smart devices to provide m-Government services, smart education and integrated digital infrastructure that supports the overall development of the UAE to achieve Vision 2021,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
