Security essentials in focus at Dubai event

Dubai, August 6, 2014

Four six-day courses focusing on security essentials, auditing, testing and detection of threats and intrusion are set to be conducted in Dubai in November.

The courses, conducted by SANS Institute, will take pace during the Gulf’s leading information security training event. The courses will each have an associated GIAC certification, led by SANS’ top instructors.

It will run from November 1 to 13 at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort. The organisers are offering up to $250 in savings on tuition fees for payment by September 17.

The first week will cover ‘Security Essentials, Bootcamp Style,’ which will include the skills and techniques required to protect and secure an organisation's critical information assets and business systems.

The students can learn the most effective steps to prevent attacks and detect threats with techniques that can be applied directly back in the workplace, enabling them to remain at the cutting edge of cyber security.

It will also cover ‘Advanced Penetration Testing, Exploit Writing, and Ethical Hacking,’ where students will look at real-world attacks used by the most seasoned penetration testers and the methodology behind them, followed by exercises in a real-world lab environment to solidify advanced concepts and lead to immediate application of such practices at work.

The second week of training’s course will be titled ‘Auditing Networks, Perimeters and Systems.’ It will provide a risk-driven method for designing an enterprise security validation programme.

Covering a variety of high-level audit issues and general audit best practice, students will explore the technical way key controls can be used to provide a level of assurance to an organisation. Instructions on how to continuously verify these controls and techniques for constant monitoring and automatic compliance validation will be given from real-world examples.

The final topic will be ‘Intrusion Detection In-Depth,’ which will teach students how to detect and prevent intrusions.

The course will offer the core knowledge, tools and techniques required to defend networks effectively, including a wide spread of topics from foundational material such as TCP/IP to detecting an intrusion.

It is ideal for intrusion detection analysts at all levels, network engineers, system, security, and network administrators and hands-on security managers. - TradeArabia News Service
