Microsoft launches corporate blog in Arabic

Manama, September 16, 2013

Microsoft has launched a new Arabic-language corporate blog, which will provide an interactive forum to discuss the impact of technology on the economic and societal development of the Arabic-speaking world.

The launch of the site titled, "Microsoft on the Issues: Arab World" was marked by a post from Microsoft Middle East and Africa corporate vice president Ali Faramawy, who welcomed readers, according to a report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Microsoft on the Issues: Arab World will feature regular comments from Microsoft staff as well as local partners and customers, aiming to encourage wider conversations about harnessing technology innovation and talent to enhance business growth in the region.

The blog is a part of Microsoft's efforts to broaden its regional communications approach and reach Arabic-speaking audiences.

The launch follows the success of the Microsoft on the Issues: Africa blog, which has highlighted technology strengths and successes on the African continent since it launched in 2009.

The Microsoft on the Issues: Africa platform was the first corporate blog established for the African market by the company, and has been well received by the technology industry.

With more than 1,800 views on average per blog post, some entries have also been cited by regional media outlets.

"There is a great deal of technology talent within the Middle East and North Africa, and that talent has the potential to spur the region's economic growth. By providing an open, online platform in Arabic, we aim to drive more local language discussion and debate on these topics in the coming months," said Faramawy.

"The platform is a welcome addition to the digital world in the Arabic-speaking region. A platform such as this provides many opportunities for Microsoft's partner and customer voices to be heard throughout the region," said Link Development managing director Amin Azab.

Readers are encouraged to visit the blog and engage with the contributors and editors in the comments section. For blog updates and more insights from Microsoft in the Arabic-speaking world, follow the Twitter handle @MicrosoftArab. – TradeArabia News Service
