Etisalat revises telegram service charges

Abu Dhabi, December 20, 2012

UAE-based telecommunications company Etisalat has announced the revision of its telegram service charges bringing it in line with current industry standards.

The company’s telegram service was launched in 1992, allowing users to send a written or verbally dictated message for delivery to destinations around the world. The new prices will be effective from January 18, 2013, a statement from Etisalat said.

It is a quick and convenient service in which a telegram message is transmitted to the destination office where the delivery is arranged for the recipient.

Etisalat’s telegram service within UAE or to any GCC, Arab Country, Europe, US and rest of the world will be charged fixed plus per-word charges, the statement said.

The service is a significant mode of communication for governments, VIPs as well as residents of the UAE, whereby telegrams are mainly used for official, documented notifications and messages. It is also widely used to notify recipients of important events, convey greetings or condolences.

It is available in the Australia, Canada, Japan, UK, US, Sweden, several European countries as well as Arab states. Etisalat’s new fixed and per-word rates for the service are one the most competitive charges in the world, it said.

Customers can use Etisalat’s telegram service by calling ‘131’ to give their message and destination for the delivery of the telegram. The charge will then be added to customers’ fixed-line phone, eLife or postpaid mobile account. Alternatively, customers can also pay for the service in cash. – TradeArabia News Service
