Asry unveils new-look web portal

Manama, September 11, 2013

Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) has launched a new corporate website which the Bahrain-based yard says is a "modern rethink of conventional shipyard portals".

"Just as the company is transitioning into a modern multi-service marine hub, our digital presence is a reflection of that progress," Asry chief executive Chris Potter was quoted as saying in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

According to him the site breaks free from stereotypically bland industrial sites.

"The new site will ensure current and future customers are dynamically informed of all the yard's latest news and information - featuring a constantly-updating homepage news panel, a re-engineered media module, and the shipyard's new modern brand," he stated.

"By giving open access to all the developments within the yard, while simultaneously energising the look and feel of the site, we're hoping to raise our online identity above the stereotypical uninspired portals that shipyards generally tend to have," said Potter.

A modern clean design ethos breaks away from common industrial website preferences and presents a fresh minimalist-inspired site.

In a more transparent move than other regional shipyards, every insight and development at the yard will be available for consumption online, opening up the yard's operations for customers and interested readers to see for themselves, the report said.

News, publications, images and other resources will be available for download in a state-of-the-art media centre, and customers will be able to access useful information through a password-protected link to the Asry Customer Portal.

The site was developed by Bahrain-based East Innovations, whose local roots and knowledge of the kingdom were best suited to capture the essence of one of the kingdom's leading employers and industrial players as it transitions into a global player, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
