Alkawther Industries signed a contract with the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Modon) for the design and implementation of a desalination plant worth SR35 million ($9.33 million) in Dammam.

The plant will have a capacity of 15,000 cu m per day and will be built in the second industrial zone in Dammam, a statement said.

The agreement was signed by Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al Rabiah, Minister of Commerce and Industry and chairman of the board of directors of Modon and Ahmed Gashlan, chief executive officer of Alkawther Industries in presence of the director general of Modon Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Rasheed.

"This project represents the beginning of cooperation between Alkawther Industries and Modon , and in the coming period will be targeting a number of similar projects for industrial cities that play an active role in the development of infrastructure in the industrial cities in the Kingdom,’ said Gashlan.

Alkawther Industries was founded in 1979 and is a leader in design and manufacturing of wastewater treatment plants and pollution control equipment, said Gashlan.

It also offers reverse osmosis, desalination, filtration, and plant installation, operation, and maintenance services. – TradeArabia News Service
