Five colleges to receive DHA training

The Dubai Health Authority’s health regulation department has collaborated with five medical colleges in the UAE to provide training on health regulatory standards and policies.

The training is for students pursuing their medical, nursing, dental, pharmacy and allied healthcare professions, a statement from DHA said. The aim of the training is to educate them about expected standards of practice, rules and regulations for healthcare professionals and facilities and the importance of regulatory procedures to ensure high quality of healthcare in the emirate.

The department is responsible for regulation and monitoring of approximately 25,000 healthcare professionals in Dubai and adheres to the highest quality of health regulatory standards for the medical sector in Dubai.

Dr Ramadan Ibrahim, director of health regulation department at the DHA, said: “The aim of this training is to provide students with the latest information on regulations pertaining to their field of medicine and to educate them about the importance of regulatory procedures to maintain high quality of healthcare.”

Dr Layla Mohamed Al-Marzouqi, head of clinical governance office, DHA Health Regulation Department, said students are also educated about malpractice and negligence and procedures adopted by the department in such cases. “Students are educated about patient’s rights as well as the rights of healthcare professionals in such cases.”

The program also includes site visits to DHA health regulation department and hospitals, the statement said.

The universities that have adopted health regulation as a part of their yearly curriculum include UAE University -Al Ain, Fatima College of Health Science-Al Ain and Abu Dhabi branch, Sharjah Medical University, Gulf Medical University-Ajman and RAK Medical and Health Sciences University. – TradeArabia News Service
