Dewa gears up for giant industry expo

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) said it has completed preparations for the '15th Water, Energy and Environment Exhibition' (WETEX), which will be held under the umbrella of the Supreme Council of Energy for Dubai from April 15 to 17.

The major industry event, which will be held under the theme ‘Sustainable Development for All’ will see leading international players in the power, water, environment and energy sector from 32 countries take part in it.

Unveiling the details of the high-profile event, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the vice chairman of the Supreme Council of Energy and Dewa managing director and CEO, said the display area of the show had increased by 22 per cent to cover 40,000 sq m.

Al Tayer said this year Wetex will be held concurrently with the Dubai Global Energy Forum (DGEF 2013) sending a clear message that the UAE in general and Dubai in particular had put energy and environment topics on top of their agenda.

According to him, the exhibition has attracted strong regional, Arabic and international participation from 32 countries where companies and organizations will display a wide range of water, electricity, energy, environment and oil & gas equipment and solutions.

Al Tayer described the show as a must-attend event on the calendar of power, water, environment, oil & gas and energy companies from the world and the region.

"Companies participating in Wetex will compete to display best of breed technologies and solutions with an aim of boosting their business in the Mena region as well as forge new partnerships and seal strategic deals over the three days," he added.

Al Tayer revealed that Dewa planned to sign a number of major contracts in various fields at the upcoming show as part of its firm commitment to provide world-class water and electricity services to its customers in Dubai.

Wetex 2013, he noted, has attracted participation of ministries, government departments and organizations, municipalities, national and international companies and organizations, and public interest organizations concerned with the water, energy, environment issues, oil & gas and energy.

The participating countries include Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, the US, Canada, Brazil, Uruguay, Anguilla, France, Netherland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Malta, UK, Russia, Malaysia, Turkey, China, Taiwan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan and Iran.

Al Tayer emphasized that the show will discuss the latest solutions pertaining to green buildings in light of its responsibility to disseminate these technologies that conserve the consumption of energy and preserve natural resources.

The experts will also discuss international environment issues including climate change at Wetex as part of its role as a leading show in electricity, water, energy, environment and oil & gas.

“Wetex 2013 emerged as an ideal platform to showcase and address key issues in water conservation, protecting natural resources and sustainable development,” he added.

The event has expanded its traditional specialization in electricity, water, environment to focus on advanced and professional technologies in the field of energy; including fossil fuels, nuclear and renewable energy generation.-TradeArabia News Service
