New CEO for Silah Gulf

Manama, September 3, 2013

Silah Gulf, which runs Bahrain’s National Contact Center, has appointed Ricardo Langwieder-Görner as its new CEO.

The announcement was made by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, the eGovernment Authority CEO and chairman of Silah Gulf, at a press conference. Langwieder-Görner replaces Joe Tawfik as the CEO.

Silah, established in September 2010, is a joint venture between Bahrain's eGovernment Authority and the UK-based Merchants, a leader in contact center solutions.

Apart from Bahrain, the company has launched operations in Kuwait and the UAE and is planning to expand into Saudi Arabia and Qatar by the beginning of 2014, said AlQaed.

He said Silah, staffed with 470 people, is proud that Bahrainis constitute 100 per cent of its staff for the governmental services, and 67 per cent in other centres in Bahrain and outside the kingdom.

The company will provide specialised training to more Bahrainis at Silah’s academy, he said. It has an ambitious plan for cooperation with Tamkeen to train more Bahrainis to be employed in the call centres sector in the kingdom and other GCC countries.

Al Qaed said the National Contact Center (NCC) has succeeded in delivering more than 250 government services round the clock since 2012.
