Conference to focus on technology in education

Doha, June 30, 2013

About 700 educators and students from 50 countries will meet to discuss the use of technology in education at a conference in Doha, starting on July 1.

The six-day 20th Annual iEARN (International Education and Resource Network) International Conference and 17th Youth Summit is being organised by Reach out to Asia (Rota), a Qatar-based not-for-profit organisation and will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The theme of this year's conference will be ‘ICT for Education: Reaching Out, Building Bridges’, and will focus on the use of technologies in education to reach out, learn and build a better world together, said a statement.

Rota announced that Qatar-based LNG producer RasGas is the golden sponsor and Qatar Vinyl Company, the bronze sponsor, while the Supreme Education Council is the official partner of the conference.

“We are delighted to have on board some of the internationally acclaimed and renowned speakers for the iEARN conference,” said Essa Al Mannai, executive director.  

Speakers include Dr Essam Heggy, Dr Mohamed Ally, Peter Copen, Dr Judi Harris and Julie Lindsay.

“The expertise of these eminent speakers will definitely enlighten us the on the use of technologies in education to reach out, learn and build a better world together. Their speeches will provide insight into how global communities can successfully balances values and commitment to community,” added Al Mannai .

iEARN is a non-profit organisation, made up of over 30,000 schools and youth organisations in over 130 countries, that works to connect classroom learning with real world issues, and to work collaboratively to find solutions to these issues. – TradeArabia News Service
