Careers UAE to see 150 exhibiting firms

Dubai, April 25, 2013

Careers UAE Exhibition 2013, a leading recruitment, training and education event, set to open in Dubai next week, will see 150 exhibiting companies, a 20 per cent growth over last year.

Open exclusively for UAE nationals and HR practitioners, the exhibition is organised and hosted by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) to run from April 30 to May 2.

More employers are taking greater ownership of their role in local empowerment by proactively seeking UAE nationals and offering attractive incentives. Careers UAE aims to link the rising number of job seekers with employers who match their ambitions.

Additionally, Careers UAE has just launched the online job portal, which gives employers and UAE national job seekers a convenient recruitment gateway online.

Careers UAE 2013 has seen a 7 per cent increase in the participating companies from the private sector, which reflects a higher level of interest and commitment from these companies towards Emiratisation.

With approximately 22,000 UAE nationals currently employed in the private sector, according to the Ministry of Labour, the show will play a vital role as a facilitator for local empowerment in the private sector.

Asma Al Sharif, exhibition manager at Dubai World Trade Centre said: “Careers UAE Exhibition is not only about helping UAE nationals to find jobs, but connecting them with the best jobs that match their unique talents. In order to contribute to Emiratisation, we are helping young UAE nationals to make well-informed career choices by gaining first-hand information from the actual companies who are vying to employ them.”

In a new initiative, Brownbook is inviting organisations to engage with young arts enthusiasts at Careers UAE Exhibition, to give them an opportunity to participate in the creative sector, as part of Brownbook’s Creative Economy Programme. Brownbook will host a programme of talks, performances and workshops on a specially designed dedicated stage.

One of the major show attractions is the Sheikh Majid Bin Mohammed UAE Nationals Training Initiative, which will build on the success of its two previous years at the event.

The initiative aims to nurture and prepare UAE nationals for executive and managerial positions by giving them experience in leading national and international companies.

Additional attractions include a women-only event featuring an Emirati Women Leaders Panel. Iconic businesswomen will seek to inspire the emerging generation of Emirati women to balance their professional and personal responsibilities, in order to excel to the pinnacle of their chosen careers.

Ali Darwish, head of Human Resources at ADCB, which has sponsored the event over the past three years, said: “This event is not only helping companies to recruit current job seekers, but also opening the eyes of students who will enter the labour market in the near future. It will broaden their horizons and inspire them to aim higher, because they will see that the job opportunities are as unlimited as their imagination.”

Younis Abdulaziz Al Nimr, chief human resources officer at Etisalat, a key supporter of the event, said: “It is pleasing to note that each year there is an increasing level of computer skills and technical proficiency among graduates.”

“This will not only boost the telecommunications and ICT sectors but the labour market as a whole, since it means UAE nationals are becoming more multi-skilled and well-rounded in their abilities,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
