Dubai varsity plans Emiratisation increase

Dubai, December 19, 2012

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU) has revealed plans to further increase the Emiratisation rate across all job categories, while leveraging all training and career development programmes.

This is to help UAE nationals achieve academic excellence and boost their potential to contribute to the long-term development and growth of the society, a statement from the university said.

The move is in line with the recent announcement by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to mark 2013 as year of Emiratisation.

The university further announced the formation of the UAE National Council as part of its vision to enhance the career prospects of nationals, while enabling the youth to achieve higher education and progress to higher levels of leadership, administration and learning.

The council aims to build on national potential, efficiencies and leadership at the university by providing the highest level of training, continuing education and professional development as well as enhanced academic and career paths.

It supports HBMeU’s vision to drive national competencies and strengthen the potential of UAE nationals to assume high-level positions in the society, by leveraging best practices and advanced concepts in the fields of human resources management and professional development.

The UAE National Council is poised to develop a long-term strategy that supports the university’s policy towards Emiratisation and lay down a holistic employment, development and training system under best international practices. It will also outline an integrated methodology to maximize the human resource potential of the UAE and attract Emirati graduates to take up various positions at the university.

Athbah Al Kamdah, resources & institutional capabilities, deputy assistant chancellor and chair of UAE National Council, said: “Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University is committed to Emiratisation as a national priority to sustain our march towards excellence, growth and development under the directives of the UAE leadership.”

“Following the government’s efforts to promote human resource development as a key pillar of our future, we are now working to increase the rate of Emiratisation in various academic, administrative and leadership capacities by launching a series of professional training and career development programmes among national employees and graduates from various disciplines,” Al Kamdah said.

“The Emiratisation programme has always been an integral part of our efforts to build a socially and academically competent generation that will have easy access to various job opportunities and will actively contribute towards the growth and development of the country.”

“Through the UAE National Council, we look forward to providing the necessary professional, academic, technical and administrative guidance and support to boost the potential of UAE nationals across vital job categories,” she concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
