UAE rolls out new initiative for govt staff

Abu Dhabi, October 24, 2012

The UAE government's Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has launched ‘Emtiaz’, one of the largest community-based initiatives at the state level, which sees as host of special privileges for over 70,000 federal employees.

Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources unveiled the programme at an official ceremony held in Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai.

Speaking at the launch, Al Qutami said it was both gratifying and a pleasure to announce that one of the biggest and largest community-based initiatives has been created, which will offer special privileges to staff of the Federal Government.

He explained that the privileges would touch the lives of approximately 70,000 employees working in ministries and federal bodies, and play host to a number of partnerships with private sector institutions that would secure a series of lucrative offers in the form of various goods and services provided.

Juma Al Majid, the exclusive dealer of Hyundai in the UAE, became the first to sign the 'Emtiaz' partnership agreement at the launch ceremony. As per the deal, the company will offer the federal employees a series of awards and promotions, with special discounts on the extensive range of Hyundai vehicles.

Al Qatami signed the deal with Juma Al Majid, the chairman of Juma Al Majid Group, in the presence of Dr Abdul Rahman Al Awar, TRA director general, along with directors of government communication in the ministries and federal agencies, and representatives from both sides.

“This development came about in the pursuit of staff support as we motivate employees; promoting higher levels of job satisfaction and loyalty,” the minister added.

Juma Al Majid commended the role of the federal government in supporting and invigorating federal employees, for the great impact it will have in propelling the UAE’s rank among developed nations.

He also called upon public and private sectors to open more channels of communication in order to continue to create lucrative partnerships between the two, stressing their integral role that federal employees play and the need to honour their endeavours.

Dr Al Awar pointed out that the partnership agreement was signed at a time when similar pacts were being arranged with other institutions. He called upon other companies to follow the example of Juma Al Majid Group in serving the community with its overwhelming willingness to cooperate.

Khalid Issa, the chief operating officer at Juma Al Majid Group said: "We are proud to be supporting the vision of the initiate set forth by the Federal Authority in our bid to strengthen the alliance between public and private sectors."

"Endowing special privileges to federal employees serves to show our appreciation for their extensive efforts, while supporting them as they work towards the progress and the prosperity of the UAE," he added.

Abdullah Al Shwab, the director of Government Communication of the Commission, said this partnership comes from a full understanding of the importance of bridging the gap between public and private sectors, establishing lucrative partnerships between the two.

“We are confident that this move forward is a step in the direction of a more flourishing social and economic state,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
