Dewa activates new substation

Dubai, February 13, 2013

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has activated a new main 132/11 kV substation with a capacity of 150 megavolt Amperes (MVA) in International Media Production Zone (IMPZ).

The substation was built at a cost of Dh117 million ($31.84 million). Dewa has also extended its existing network of 132 kV underground cables at cost of Dh23 million.

This project aims to enhance the efficiency and capacity of Dewa’s grids to transmit electricity to International Media Production Zone. Three-kilometer 132KV ground cables have been laid to connect Dewa’s transmission grids to the main 11/132KV substation at the International Media Production Zone and to the main 132/400KV transformation substation at Jebel Ali Gardens, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa. – TradeArabia News Service
