Bahrain 'top in investment, urban development'

Bahrain is now a world leader in investment and urban development expertise ranking first in the Arab world and seventh globally in the area of easing the issuance of building permits, according to a report issued by the World Bank for 2013.

Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister Dr Juma Al Ka'abi said such achievements highlight the government's efforts in line with directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa towards strengthening a distinctive investment climate in Bahrain, said a report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Dr Al Ka'abi said the ministry, in co-operation with municipal councils and other government agencies, is keen to reinforce the role of the comprehensive municipal centre, which combines representatives of relevant authorities, in issuing permits so that its efforts contribute to enhancing Bahrain's leading position.

He said the ministry, as part of the government's strategic plan, is also keen to support urban growth by developing plans for different regions in the kingdom.

According to Bahrain's strategic data and structural plans, several building permits were obtained for residential, investment, industrial, administrative and service facilitates.

Dr Al Ka'abi hailed the Premier for supporting the drive to issue permits to citizens and residents.

He said the comprehensive municipal centre has taken a number of initiatives to provide services, including electronic connectivity, delivery and receiving building permits in digital form.

Dr Al Ka'abi said the ministry's website provides services, which form a quantum leap in supporting urban development in the kingdom.-TradeArabia News Service
