Noor Bank appoints new treasurer

Dubai, August 3, 2014

Noor Bank, Dubai, a subsidiary of Noor Investment Group, has appointed Damian White as its new treasurer.

In this role, White will be responsible for managing the bank’s trading activities, investment portfolio and the sale of market based treasury products to customers. As the chairman of the asset and liability committee, he will also handle the asset and liability balance sheet.

White will report directly to Hussain Al Qemzi, group CEO, Noor Investment Group and CEO, Noor Bank.

Al Qemzi said: “Damian’s career in treasury with key financial institutions across the world has enabled him to become a highly experienced and skilled treasurer. His experience within the region will offer local insights, while his global work will enable him to draw upon international best practices in the management of our treasury function. I am confident that he will make a significant contribution to Noor Bank’s growth and further develop and sustain our treasury department’s leading position.”

A former Infantry Officer in the Australian Regular Army, White holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School and a Queen’s Commission from the Royal Military College, Duntroon, Australia.

Previously, White served as group treasurer of Al Rajhi Bank, based in Riyadh. Before moving to the Middle East, he was associated with the National Australia Bank, Melbourne, as head of group funding, where he was responsible for raising approximately $30 billion of capital and term funding from global markets annually.

White served also as the head of the funding desk at Lehman Brothers Treasury, based in London.

Omar Anwar, head of treasury sales; Ibrahim Bitar, head of sukuk desk, and Tuan Ahamath, head of money markets, will report to White. – TradeArabia News Service
